Shovel the excavated dirt into a wheelbarrow. 6. Glue an offset outlet and a 90-degree elbow onto one end of the channel drain. 7. Use the trowel to spread an angled wedge of concrete against the back of the drain. 13. Dig a 12-inch-deep trench out from the channel drain and across the yard. 14. Use a reciprocating saw to cut plastic pipe to extend from the drain along the trench. Glue the pipe and fittings together. 15. Check the drainpipe with a level to make sure it's pitched down and away from the driveway. 16. Backfill the trench with soil to conceal the drainpipe. 17. Line the end of the drainpipe with flat stones to deter erosion. 18. Sprinkle some asphalt cold patch between the channel drain and the driveway. 19. Compact the patch with the small sledgehammer, then add more asphalt and compact it again. Repeat until the patch is flush with the surface of the driveway. 20. Plant grass seed along the backfilled trench. Our pipe lining service installs trenchless pipe liners for sewer relining and storm drains and high rise pipe CIPP service. (866) 690-7451 http://www.craftsmanpipelining.com/ Sewer Pipe and Roof Drain Problems? click to learn more about underground sewer and vertical stack pipe lining If you have roots in your sewer pipe or you have a corroded bottomless cast iron pipe with rough edges or rusty surfaces, you may find your kitchen sink is backed up, or the toilet is backed up, or your drains are blocked. If the sewage pipe is cracked, you may even notice a foul odor emanating from the floor or condominium walls. The roots in the sewer pipe will always grow back in search of water, no matter how often you unblock the root damaged pipe. Also, cracked and broken pipes result in water infiltration which causes sewer processing costs to increase, and water exfiltration, which means sewage is leaking into the environment! If the broken pipe is in an apartment wall like leaking vertical roof drains or vertical sewer pipes, then the collateral damage can become quite extensive from a blocked drain. Imagine the second floor condo flooding every time someone flushes a toilet on any of the twenty floors above it, and imagine nobody notices the clogged drain for a few days! Cured In Place Pipe (CIPP Pipe Lining) click to learn about Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining Pipelining (Pipe Lining) can replace pipes without digging up walls, floors, driveways or landscaping. The pipelining process installs a pipe-within the old pipe, typically from a rooftop or outside the building where the sewer service lateral comes out under the building on the way to the sewer main line. Sewer main lines can also be relined, but the re-lining can be done in its entirety or just in small sections (sectional pipe repair | point repair). The pipe liner will install the cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) typically from one access point, and the pipe lining will harden in 3 hours. There are different types of pipe coatings, some are structural where they are as thick and strong as a new pipe (CIPP), others are merely a pipe coating (epoxy pipe lining). Not all pipeline coatings are the same either, it depends on what the pH, temperature and structural conditions are inside the pipeline. Where Can Pipe Lining (CIPP) Be Used? The lining process can be used to rehabilitate virtually any type of pipe including; clay pipe, cast Iron, orangeburg, PVC, ABS, HDPE, concrete pipe, roof drain stacks, vertical pipelines such as roof leaders, electrical conduit lines and chiller pipelines, and all underground piping. Epoxy Pipe Lining For Small Pipes Rusted Leaking Hot & Cold Water Pipes In Homes & Buildings Renewed By Epoxy Pipe Lining When drinking water pipes corrode, the copper pipes get pinhole leaks and the water becomes discolored and tastes bad. The resulting slab leak repair is done by excavating the concrete and repiping the drinking water pipe. The slab leak repair is temporary because the remaining galvanized pipe or copper pipe will leak soon thereafter. Repiping the entire structure is very costly and some sometimes the downtime can be even more costly (repiping hotels, factories, condos, apartments). Epoxy pipe rehabilitation is quite simple: first open both ends of the potable water pie that needs repair. Then using air pressure, sandblast the inside of the pipe to remove oxidation deposits and scale. Lastly use air pressure to coat the entire water system with epoxy pipe lining and test for water leaks. This is the best water repiping method. Epoxy Pipe Lining For Large Pipes Epoxy Pipe Lining Of Large Pressure Pipes - more... Epoxy spray pipe lining rehabilitates pressurized water mains, fire suppression pipes and heated industrial pipes ranging from 4″ to 24″ in diameter. The epoxy spray coating seals leaking pipes with an anti corrosion coating centrifugally spraying 1 to 7.5 millimeters of a solvent-free, protective epoxy coating onto the inner surface of the pipe. The epoxy pipe lining process removes all pipe corrosion and tuberculation and restores the pressure and flow requirements of the fire hydrant pipe or drinking water pipe. This tough trenchless epoxy pipe coating process can rehabilitate 550 feet of rusted blocked pipes at one time, and protects against future corrosion and buildup without the cost and disruption of excavation and replacement. Channel drain around the pool serves to collect rain water and protect your home. When this small channel drain goes bad, it can sometimes be cleaned, but most of the time the problem is the DISCHARGE of the drain is bad or missing. This is the most common problem in southern homes. From Florida to Texas, even up into the southern states. Problems like pool liner bubbles or pulls away from wall, cracked concrete, or the most common problem is water finds its way into the back wall of the house and does damage to hardwood floors, causing them to warp or buckle, baseboard get wet, wet sheet rock, and wet walls, and in some cases, so much pressure builds under the floor it causes the floor itself to buckle. The solution is proper discharge of the channel drain, whether it be gravity or by sump pump. Watch the full episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USypHVjs1xw Richard Trethewey shows how to rough-in the drainpipes for a basement bathroom. (See below for steps.) Click here to SUBSCRIBE to the official This Old House YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=thisoldhouse Steps for How to Install a Basement Bathroom: 1. Lay out the 2x4 bottom wall plates to establish the perimeter of the bathroom walls. 2. Measure off the wall plates to locate the center of the shower drain and toilet flange. 3. Dig a trench extending from the existing drainpipe over to the new locations of the shower drain and toilet flange. 4. Use a right-angle grinder fitted with a diamond-impregnated cutting wheel to cut through the old cast-iron drainpipe. 5. Attach a flexible no-hub mechanical coupling onto the end of the just-cut drainpipe. Tighten hose clamp onto the cast-iron pipe with a torque wrench. 6. Cut and glue together 3-inch-diameter PVC pipes and fittings to form the drainpipe assembly that connects the old cast-iron pipe to the new shower and toilet drain. 7. Slip the end of the PVC drainpipe assembly into the mechanical coupling attached to the old cast-iron pipe. Tighten the hose clamp to secure the PVC pipe. 8. Next, run 2-inch-diameter PVC pipe from the drainpipe assembly over to the shower and vanity sink. 9. Install traps for each fixture, and be sure the pipes slope 1/8 inch per foot to drain properly. 10. Drive a 1/2-inch-diameter steel-reinforcing bar down into the soil beside each trap. Then, use duct tape to secure the bars to the traps. 11. Have the rough piping inspected before pouring the concrete floor. 12. Cover the open end of the toilet pipe with a foam cap. Wrap plastic around the shower-drain pipe. 13. Have the concrete contractor pour a new floor around the piping.
